We wanted to create a space within our existing Friday night youth activity for small groups to have space to deepen relationships and explore themes from the teaching session together.


We had some space in the church but it wasn’t very welcoming so we needed to decorate.

We bought some paint and painted the walls then created our own pictures on canvasses using our own designs and different paints. We wanted the room to be a chilled out space so replaced the chairs with bean bags, got some lights to make it look good and a CD player so we could have our music on while we chatted.





This has made it better to sit and chat with each other and the leaders about life, school and home. It’s much better to spend time in the Upper Room now it is finished. It has taken a while to get it all finished and one of the difficult things was to make it somewhere the lads wanted to chill out in too and having our art on the walls means that it belongs to everyone, not just some who made decisions.
