What - A Youth Concert with the Christian Rock Band – "My Spoon". Admission free, by invitation to local church and community youth groups.

The gig was organised by a planning group of a small number of volunteers and co-optees and supported by students at Mattersey Bible College.

It was a great day. We had loads of fun and although the doors opened at 7, people were working all afternoon getting it ready, meeting the band (and taking them out for dinner) and sorting out what would happen.

Jonathan welcomed everyone and introduced the band, handing over to Lydia to open the games and activities. These were based on co-operation and teamwork; helping each other to stand, back-to-back with arms interlocked; passing balloons and batting balloons across the room.
"My Spoon" played their first set; rock songs with a Christian message. We broke for refreshments halfway through the gig. Free soft drinks, fruit and cakes were served and it was nice to see so many tucking-in to the contents of the fruit bowl!

After the break we played more games and got to hear testimony from members of the band before they finished off with another set. Everyone took away a copy of ‘Jam’ magazine and a flyer telling them what was on in their local church.
