Saturday 21 April 2007 brought the first ‘Event’ to Keyworth Playing Fields organised by young people from St. Luke’s Church with support from Sarah Sharpe and Barrie Voyce. This was a huge process that required good organisational skills, inspirational ideas, prayerful thinking, and at times a huge amount of diplomacy.
The aims were:
· To bring fun entertainment to families and young people.
· To present Christians and their faith as relevant and exciting to those who don't know too much about them.
· To let Christian Young People share their stories with other people.
Young people from West Bridgeford attended a training course in how to share their faith with their friends called ‘Lost for Words’ and then shared their learning with other young people in Keyworth.
During the afternoon (2-5pm) there were inflatable fun games, craft stalls, drama & dance, workshops, competitions, entertainers and things to watch on the BIG screen.
In the evening (5-9pm) there was a chance to reflect on the day and, on the BIG stage, live music from the Salvation Army band 'Electralyte' and a guest speaker form the world famous 'Soul Survivor' (Andrew Croft).
The ‘Event’ was a great success with hundreds of young people coming during the day and evening, the worship band from St. Luke’s playing as well as Electralyte, and lots of fun had by many people.
